Lancome Shine Lover Lipstick review

I love a bright pop of colour on my lips, but often find normal lipsticks to be a bit drying if worn regularly so I often stick with tinted balms during the week. Since discovering Lancôme’s new Shine Lover lipsticks however, this has all gone out of the window and I’ve been wearing them pretty much every day!

The Shine Lover lipsticks* offer up a perfect mix of colour with some serious hydration. These moisture-rich lipsticks have all been infused with hyaluronic acid and rose bush oil to help keep lips nice and soft while you wear them, making them easy to wear all day, every day.

314 Spontanee and 323 Effortless Pink

As the name suggests, these are designed to look a little shiny, however when applied to the lips, I’d say it’s definitely more of a soft sheen rather than the shine you’d get with a lip gloss. It’s like having the best bits of a lip balm and a lipstick all rolled into one, just don’t expect a seriously glossy finish.

The formula is about medium when it comes to pigmentation – you don’t get the same full on look you would with a matte finish lipstick, but you get more colour than you would with a tinted balm or lip gloss. This seems to make even the brightest shades much more wearable and you still get a good 3-4 hours out of these without needing a top up (you’ll definitely need one after eating).

With 20 shades to choose from in the range I think it’ll be easy for pretty much everyone to find a new handbag favourite. Lancôme have grouped them into three distinct colourways – reds, pinks and nudes, which makes it easier to find a shade you might like without having to swatch them all (although that might be quite fun). I’m currently loving 323 Effortless Pink, which is a hot pink but I also like the look of 310 Dare To Pink, so that might have to be a pay day treat to myself.

The only thing I find a little disappointing about these is the packaging. It’s quite plain and doesn’t have that ‘high end’ feel to it that I’d like to see given the price point. There’s nothing wrong with it, it just feels a little generic when I compare it to others in the pricier end of my lippie collection.

Shine Lover lipsticks are £21 each and available now across Lancôme counters.

Do you like the sound of these new lipsticks from Lancome?
