Barry M's new Speedy Nail Paints* have got pastels down to a tee - there are nine shades in the collection, and the candy coloured shades remind me of a vintage sweet shop.
L-R Full Throttle, Road Rage, Kiss Me Quick, Lap Of Honour, In A Heart Beat, Eat My Dust, Stop The Clock, Pole Position, Pit Stop |
The formula of these has been designed to dry much more quickly than Barry M's standard ranges, even without the help of a quick dry top coat. I had a manicure at the recent launch event and can definitely confirm that these dry quickly - mine were touch dry in just a couple of minutes and seemed to be fully dry in ten, which is great if you're in a rush or a bit impatient when it comes to painting your nails!
The formula of the polishes is reasonably thick - I only needed two coats to get a streak-free, opaque finish to most of these shades, although some of the lightest ones will benefit from a thin third coat if you've got the time.
I also love the new brush that they've created for this range. It's wider than their standard brushes and fans out nicely, meaning you can paint your nails quickly in just three strokes per nail. I always found the thin brushes inside Barry M polishes a bit of a faff as they often led to streaks for me, so I'm hoping they might roll these brushes out across the rest of the range.
Wear time is pretty good - I got four days out of mine (including a bathroom cleaning session) before I got a proper chip. Their Gelly range seems to just peel off on me, so I'm glad to find some similar shades that last a lot longer.
At £3.99 per polish, I think these are a bargain and I highly recommend adding a few to your collection once they launch later this month. They'll be hitting the shelves in Superdrug on 11th February and into Boots a week later on 18th February.
