My top products of 2014: skincare

I'm a bit of a skincare addict, so trying to whittle down my favourite products of the year has proved to be a challenge. I've managed to get it down to the ten that I think really deliver performance-wise and are all ones that feature heavily on my repurchase list!

top skincare products of 2014

Trilogy Very Gentle Calming Serum* - if you've got sensitive skin, or skin that needs a bit of TLC, then you need this in your life. It's a milky style serum that soothes and cools and is perfect for the colder months. I love using this morning or night (or both!) underneath my moisturiser - it's not overly greasy so can be used by pretty much all skin types and is quite reasonably priced at £25.65.

Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser* - this has been my morning cleanser of choice for the best part of the year. I love a balm in the evenings, but this gel-style cleanser is really refreshing first thing in the mornings and cleanses well without stripping the skin. £26.90

Perricone MD Cold Plasma* - I had a rave about this product in this post, and despite the £100+ price tag, it's still something I'd repurchase myself when I finally finish this tub. It gives skin an amazing glow in just a couple of applications - it's not often you find something that you really see effects from pretty immediately and I've become a bit of an addict!

Caudalie Polyphenol C15 serum* - another serum (I love them!), this one is packed full of goodness for skin and is another product that really delivers on radiance. After just a couple of weeks, I was left glowing and it's an effect that starts to become a bit addictive! I'm on my third bottle of this - it really is that good! £35

REN EverCalm Global Protection Day Cream - a staple product in my morning routine, this moisturiser is hydrating without being greasy and also great for anyone with sensitive skin. It might be a little rich for very oily skins, but for normal/dry/combination skins I'd definitely recommend it. £27

B.Pure Micellar Water - If you're a fan of Bioderma but find it a little pricey, then this micellar water from Superdrug brand B. is a fantastic alternative. It's great as a first cleanse and removes pretty much all my foundation in just a couple of swipes. It's gentle, non-drying and at £4.99 really good value for money.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum* - this is my night-time eye cream love. It works wonders on hydrating the eye area and plumping out fine lines and a little bit goes a really long way. If you're a fan of the original serum, then I definitely recommend giving this one a go - you get similar benefits, but in a cream suitable for the delicate eye area. £46

The Body Shop Chamomile Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover - a bi-phase remover, this needs to be shaken well before squirting a bit onto a cotton pad and removing your eye makeup. I wear a LOT of eye makeup and this stuff is like a wonder product - it removes all traces without any need to rub your eyes. I think I'm on my fifth bottle this year - I used to buy a much more expensive version, but after trying this out, I'm never going back! £8

GlamGlow Supermud* - I've never tried a face mask quite like it. Just a small amount of this mud mask applied to my t-zone sucks out dirt from my pores I didn't even know existed! It's quite pricey, but a small amount goes a long way and the results are definitely worth it. Just don't say I didn't warn you when you see what it manages to get out of your skin! £45

Bioderma Hydrabio Exfoliating Cream* - if you've got dry or dehydrated skin, then this gentle face scrub from Bioderma will be the perfect solution. I love a chemical exfoliator but never quite feel like the do the trick 100%, so tend to use a traditional scrub every week. This one is creamy, with small exfoliator beads and will remove dead skin cells without stripping away moisture levels. £10.50

  1. I really liked the B.Pure Micellar Water, it did a great job at removing my eye makeup. I had a GWP of the Estee Lauder Eye Serum & loved it & wish I could afford to buy the full size

  2. Love this list and thanks for the mention of the more affordable options too! I have been using the Dermalogica Ultracalming cleanser for a while and absolutely love it.

  3. I definitely need to buy the full size SuperMud this year! I love the Estée Lauder eye cream, but I couldn't afford to re-purchase it when my last pot ran out. However nothing I've tried since has compared, so I think I need to re-invest when I can! xx
