I love a good eye shadow palette (seriously, I have a drawer full), so when I saw Makeup Revolution's Ultimate eye shadow collection* on a recent trip to Superdrug, I had a bit of a 'hubba hubba' moment.
The palette is a collection of 144 eye shadows, covering everything from nudes, brights, mattes and shimmers and can make pretty much any other palette you own redundant.
While the shadows themselves don't have names (let's face it, who can name 144 shadows?!), they've been laid out in a way that makes it really easy to remember which is your favourite shade, and the colours seem to be grouped together in a way that makes finding complementary shades simple.
The formula is pretty impressive for the price - it definitely matches up with their regular shadows, and while I won't be throwing away my Urban Decay palettes just yet, it's an amazing value collection, especially given the price.
I found that the mattes are slightly sheerer than the shimmers, which tend to wear a bit better and the only other downside I can see from the palette is the fact that the shadows sizes are quite small. If you find a shade you love, it will probably run out pretty quickly, so make sure you find a good replacement for it from the rest of their line!
I haven't swatched all of the shadows as I'd need about a dozen arms, however some of my favourite shades are the neutral shimmery ones in the fourth row across (see arm swatches), plus the rich purples and smokey greys.
At the moment this palette is half price in Superdrug, so it's on sale for just £10, making it a total bargain in my mind. It's obviously not a portable palette given the size, but for at home use it's perfect.. I have a feeling this will be on a lot of Christmas wishlists this year. It's nice to see a large-scale palette that doesn't feel like it's been aimed at teenagers for once - this one is accessible for all ages.
The Ultimate Eye Shadow Collection is available in store and online from Superdrug and is limited edition. Make sure you grabs yours before Christmas (and while it's still £10!).
What do you think of this epic palette from Makeup Revolution?
